Go Pacers!

We were toasting Pacer fans and sponsors.  It was a hospitality bash at Prime 47 on Pennsylvania

Avenue in down town Indianapolis. Photogenic people as far as the eye could see. Great evening.  Thank you, Cara!

This Valentine’s Day celebration was held in the party room at Danville Nursing Home for the residents there. All but two residents were in wheel chairs, some had oxygen tubes.  I mention this merely to set the scene a bit, since I am only posting pictures of my drawings, not the people.  But you will immediately recognize my approach here:  I drew everybody young, energetic and glamorous. I was rewarded with quick giggles, some admiration of my technique and “you made me look the way I was when I was young.”  Right, Richard, you got it.  That was my take on this crowd. Nursing homes are always rewarding to work in.  I always learn and go home with things to reflect on.  Thank  you, Pat, Kerri and Jesse!

You’ll find the Roan Farm in the periphery of Shelbyville, Indiana.  Be not deceived by the folksy town name: Shelbyville has an airport. But to get there, I drove and drove through tranquil fields.

The party was held in a pole barn expressly built as an event venue.  High ceiling, natural lumber, good lighting and clean, clean clean. Wonderful space! All sorts of parties are held here, including weddings.

Thank you, Whitney!

It’s a no-brainer. The way to attract people is to throw a party and hand out freebies.  At Nordstrom’s on Grant last December the freebies were exquisite sweets and, ta-tah, my sweet drawings.  We, the scoopable sweets and my laughable drawings were set up next to one another and, appropriately, just across the aisle from the party planning stuff.

The store had pre-printed 4” x 6” cards for me. I drew on the front and on the back it said in multi-color letters, “YOU ARE SO GIFTED.”  Awww!    Only verrrrry regular customers got the freebies.  They came after work down-town and were, obviously, smart shoppers. Including the kids, I’m sure, who had quickly been picked up from their after-school programs.  The whole scene was fascinating to watch and I enjoyed my two hours in the world of expert marketing.

Thank you, Allison.     ——————————————————————-
