Hard working employees deserve a couple of hours on the sunny patio.  They enjoyed food, games and caricatures by me. I drew twenty-eight people in two-and-a-half hours. Thank you, Caily!

This was a five-hour Christmas Party for a large tech company.  I will 12CCCTech9show only a small sample of the many people I drew that night. Thanks to Suzanne, who sent me this email after the party: “I just wanted to send you a quick note and tell you thanks for everything.  Your services were fantastic and everyone had such a great time with your caricature drawings!”

These last two are the owners of the company, two really casual, personable guys. It was past midnight, so I expressed their power…they loved it as you can see!

Speaking of morale.  Bob was moved to another market or another town…I never quite get those interoffice details.  No matter.  You can tell, he’s important.  The company feels it’s important to take note of accomplishments and milestones in a person’s career. This builds morale not only among those who are celebrated in this way, but, I’ll bet you anything, also among those who are involved in the gift giving.  A mild caricature like this is a very personal, heart-felt gift.  Congratulations, Bob!  Thank you, Violetta!

You think Whole Foods is a beautiful store. You should see the beautiful people in the back who make it all possible!   I was set up in the employee lounge and anybody who wanted to spend her or his break sitting in front of me to be drawn funny, could be drawn…funny.    Great atmosphere.  Loved it.  Learned that Lhakpa in Tibetan means Wednesday, Pawku in Burmese means Flower and Adiel means ornament of god in a Canaanite language.  The oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips and cranberries were to die for, abundant, and free. This is how companies should be run:  show the folks who work for you that you appreciate them.  Builds moral, good for them, good for you.  Thank you, Calandra!

Golf Ball Quirks

For her 35th birthday earlier this summer, Heather got golf lessons as a gift from her husband.  Three months later she is doing fine, but it seems all sorts of quirky things happen when she’s on the links. To celebrate this quirkiness and her sense of humor about it all, Bill is giving her this drawing.  No occasion, just an appreciation of her charm. The drawing was presented to her at a recent back yard barbeque with friends and neighbors.

I love it when people clown for me, when they’re not the shape they want to be and ask for more glamorous proportions or when they go to yoga three times a week and then tell me to “make me hot.”  Especially if this is done in a posh office building just off Michigan Avenue for a huge, prestigious company.  The view is great, inside and out.  We were having an extended lunch period on the 14th floor, with great catering, funny videos from daily life in the firm and—ta-tah, caricatures by me!   What better way to show the company’s appreciation for its support staff.  This turned out to be all women, except for one lone male, a good sport.  I drew twenty-five vivacious people in two-and-a-half hours, all the while competing with fabulous food and funny bits on the video screen, no mean task.  Uproarious laughter.   Loved it.    Thanks, Colleen
