ElmhurstLibr1

I did this event at the Elmhurst Library last year and I was honored to be called back.

ElmhurstLibr2Comic Con is a big event.  Various artists who work in cartooning, comic strips, manga, and caricature are set up at tables where they demonstrate and explain their art. It’s an exciting day for kids. Many come in the costume of their favorite character from movies such as Star Wars.  Capes galore!

Last year I worked in black/white, which the kids and parents enjoyed.  But this year I worked in full color, which was fabulous! Color takes just a bit longer, but for kids this is the way to go.  B/w is elegant, but let’s face it, color pops off the page!

Thank you, Kim!

Smith Village is a retirement home on 113th Place.  Very few of the residents dressed up in costumes, but the grand kids went all out.  I admired their costumes which were worked out to great detail.  What fun!  The characters were all unique, only one princess, one vampire, one GI Joe,one mummy  etc, and therefore everybody won a price for best in that category.  Ingenious! Thank you, Joy.

Here are just a few of the kids I drew.—————–

A Halloween party is a good idea.  The kids are inside and can really enjoy their costumes.  When they go trick-or-treating it’s often cold and they have to wear coats, what a bummer.

The Halloween party at  the Wesglen Club House in Romeoville yesterday was a wonderful occasion for princesses, witches, vampires,  a muscleman,  a surgeon, a strawberry and any number of lavender fairies to strut their stuff and to stuff themselves with good food and sweets.  Thank you, Maria!

I drew thirty-one people, mostly kids, and I’ll show a small sample here.
