AbelK9It’s a privilege to be the artist of choice for this unit of the Chicago Police. This is the K9 and you know what that means, don’t you. It stands for canine, so clever, rah-rah. So, these are the officers who work with highly trained dogs. I do love drawing the faces, but I have to confess, the dogs are more fun to draw. That’s obvious. The cop is angular and official looking and the puppy gets to carry the humor part in the drawing, cross eyed and tongue hanging out. Thanks again, Cindi.

13Dina713Dina7bGeorge wanted to be drawn with a mustache.  When I do a mustache, I do a MUSTACHE!

A birthday party doesn’t have to be huge or expensive to be festive and memorable.  George was turning eleven.  He invited just five friends to his house after school on a Wednesday before a no-school day in October.  The mom still went all out with decorations, a festive cake and that famous 13MeDinocaricaturist.  In one hour I drew all six kids in full color and then there was time left to draw the dog, super alert and affectionate creature, who was busy being hugged the whole time.  Thank you, Dina!

Ten on the tenth

On Sunday evening I got a call from a mom in Glenview who was planning a birthday party for her ten-year old the next day.  That would be on the tenth.  What a great idea!  If you turn ten on the tenth you shall have your birthday party on the tenth no matter what day of the week that happens to be.  Monday?  Fine, we’ll have your party on Monday.  And Monday it was.  It’s more than yet another great idea.  I’m in favor of writing this into law.  That way I’ll get to draw at birthday parties every day of the week, not just on weekends.  Hear ye, hear ye!   Let it be known…spread the word….

I drew twenty-four kids plus Tess, the dog, in about three hours.  And I got a piece of yummy birthday cake.  Thank you, Kathy.  Happy birthday, Grace.

It was a surprise party, where the younger sister was in charge of making sure that the birthday girl would be distracted upstairs as the party was being set up.   Here’s a sampling of the drawings I did yesterday at this wonderful party.
